The study, entitled "
A Randomized Trial of a Telephone Care-Management Strategy," used a randomized controlled trial to demonstrate the savings delivered by Health Dialog's enhanced care management program. The trial followed 174,120 individuals over twelve months, making it the largest randomized controlled trial study of care management ever published.
Results - Average monthly medical and pharmacy costs per member in the enhanced-support group were $7.96 lower than those in the control/baseline support group
- A 10.1% reduction in annual hospital admissions accounted for the majority of savings.
- The cost of this intervention program was less than $2.00 per member per month, resulting in net savings of $6.00 per member per month
