BOSTON, Mass. – October 27, 2010 – Health Dialog today announced that it has achieved ISO 27001 security certification from the International Organization of Standardization (ISO), the world's largest developer and publisher of international standards. This marks the first time that a U.S. care management company has achieved this distinction and illustrates Health Dialog's ongoing commitment to the highest standards of information security and protection.
"Information security, especially for Protected Health Information (PHI), is of paramount importance in our industry," stated James Tugendhat, Chief Executive Officer, Health Dialog. "We are proud to offer our clients and their members the peace of mind that comes with knowing their information is safe."
The ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification, currently granted to less than 100 organizations in the U.S., specifies requirements for the establishment, implementation, monitoring and review, maintenance, and improvement of an information security management system for managing an organization's information security risks. Health Dialog worked closely with BSI (British Standards Institution) to bring its information security under rigorous management control and demonstrate a robust focus on information security that complies with the globally accepted ISO 27001 standard.
About ISO:
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 163 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system. ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors. On the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of industry associations. Therefore, ISO enables a consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both the requirements of business and the broader needs of society.
