Strong academic roots in analytics and healthcare decision support.

Health Dialog recognizes that the physician-patient relationship is key to improving healthcare quality and managing costs. Our approach is based on more than 30 years of groundbreaking research by Drs. John and David Wennberg and their colleagues on unwarranted variation in healthcare – the widespread overuse, underuse, and misuse of healthcare services. Studies show that eliminating these variations in the Medicare population could reduce the nation’s overall healthcare costs by up to 30%1. This research forms the basis of Health Dialog’s sophisticated Unwarranted Variation® Analytics, which identify patients who can benefit most from Health Coaching. Through a Shared Decision-Making® approach, based on the work of the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making, we work with individuals to more effectively engage them in their healthcare. Through targeted interventions, we motivate individuals to be proactive in the management of their conditions, and become more engaged in the treatment process. We also utilize information from nationally recognized clinical guidelines and the Healthwise® Knowledgebase, an encyclopedic health information database.
